Townhouse new interpretation

Historical townhouse

Fürth

Project: Extension of a historical townhouse

Location: Fürth, Germany

Status: design

Year: 2014

Clients: Jörg & Sabine

A project for a very special place on the outskirts of the western downtown in Fürth.

At the bare firewall of the beautiful sandstone building (with "mushroom camembert" advertising that has almost become a landmark), a structure should emerge, that would on the one hand incorporate the characteristic roof shape and the fixed axis grid of the main building, and the red brick color of the tenement buildings on the other.

Here, the densely built-up, historical city sharply borders the green bank of the Rednitz river, the Kißkalt tenement buildings force drivers into a small traffic harassment, and directly opposite sits prominently one of the city's cultural diamonds, the former river beach at Badstrasse 8 (on whose rescue and construction we were instrumental as well).

A very special project for me too, as I was able to live in this wonderful city for many years just around the corner.
