Good things take time. It's been ten years since I presented the design to the client together with Dominik Hennecke from Platzhalter Architektur.

The design proposal of the city crystal arose from a rebellious, spontaneous mood, but much more from the deep conviction that in terms of urban planning a genuine creative contrast is mandatory.

We had previously worked out several design alternatives for the very prominent turn-of-the-century building on Wiener Gasse in Perchtoldsdorf.

The roof shapes were in almost all proposals classically unpretentious. The design proposal of the city crystal arose from a rebellious, spontaneous mood, but much more from the deep conviction that in terms of urban planning a genuine creative contrast is mandatory.

After all, it is one of the most important south-west arterial roads from Vienna. Here one leaves the metropolis of Vienna and enters the lovely Heurigen village of Perchtoldsdorf.

The rupture can be felt everywhere, the houses are small, the area is non-homogeneous in terms of urban planning, the building itself is almost the only metropolitan revenue house around. The backdrop consists of wine hills and the mountains of the Vienna Woods.

At the client presentation, we were more than surprised that the client agreed with us and preferred the design to the other, well-behaved alternatives.

This transition should be creatively staged and deconstructed.

Unfortunately, we're still waiting for the groundbreaking ceremony, but good things take time ...
